This handy sling bag measures approximately 16" wide,
11" tall, and 4" deep.
The cross-body version has a strap with a 23" drop, and the shoulder bag version has a strap with a 15" drop. The pattern allows for altering the length of the cross-body strap, as desired.
Recommended fabrics for the Margaret Bag include quilting weight cotton, cotton/linen blends, and lighter-weight home-decor fabrics. Heavyweight fabrics like canvas and upholstery are not recommended for this project.
The Margaret Bag has a flannel interlining that adds body without making the bag stiff. You may opt to use muslin or a similar mid-weight fabric instead of the flannel. However, thicker materials like batting and fusible fleece are not recommended.
Lightweight fusible interfacing is used to reinforce the exterior bag and to fuse the flannel interlining in place.
Fabric requirements are based on fabric at least 40” wide.

A sleeve press (mini ironing board) is not essential, but may be helpful for pressing seams during construction. Freezer paper may be helpful for tracing the pattern pieces.
The pdf pattern includes step-by-step photo instructions and pattern pieces. The pattern pieces are full scale, but they will print on multiple pages that will need to be taped together. (Tips for accomplishing this process painlessly are included in the pattern.)
